It is called the sapulidi and made from the leaves of a coconut tree.

The tapered ends effectively sweep away water and dirt. Broken off strands can be replaced. And it dries almost instantly. But the best thing about the sapulidi is the sound it makes against a wet floor - it is a sound we will never forget.

And this, perhaps, is the life that objects and design can take.

Today, you can only find the sapulidi sold at old skool general goods shops. It is so rare we bought all 8 at $0.60 each when we found it in our hood. You could say we sapu-ed them all!
