Be a hero. Take some chance.

Jackson says: "The conventional saying is "好漢不吃眼前亏". 好漢, literally a hero, should avoid potential risk of 虧 or loss. As a creator, sometimes it's the opposite. You have to take chances that could lead to potential losses. It's part of the creative process to experiment and to 吃一點小虧, make some loss. And you learn from the experience to form the big picture."

Jackson Tan is an artist, designer and curator. Based in Singapore, he is the co-founder of PHUNK, a contemporary art and design collective and BLACK, a multidisciplinary design studio. He has exhibited and lectured extensively around the world.

Good Sweat is an old-fashioned reminder that what matters is not the scale of the work or its reward, but to take care and to take pride in whatever we do. Good Sweat also celebrates the spirit of those who persist, however humble or challenging their job may be, in perfecting their craft.
