Rain trees and Yellow Flames grow alongside rows of public housing in our neighbourhood.

Their cracked and gnarly bark is like an armor. Their canopy a shield. Just as the blocks of flats protect and shelter us from the environment, these giant rain trees are home to a whole host of ferns, moss, fungi and creepers.

They keep us rooted. We can never grow to be as majestic as they are. And they keep us in awe. We can never fully grasp the passage of time they have witnessed. Neither can we ignore the skies they draw our eyes to.
